HSUPA Technology Support

The Sierra Wireless AC880 and AC881 HSUPA air cards are supported in this version of Invex3G.

Lines–to–Cell Map Display Enhancements

In addition to highlighting the serving cells, the Map display can now draw bold lines to the serving cell and dashed lines to the neighbor cells representing the serving and neighbor paths when paired with an associated cell site database. The distance between the data trace (representing the location of the test vehicle) and the serving cells is shown on the map legend with associated Rx Level measurements.  The lines are enabled and the color and thickness of the lines to serving cells (sectors) and neighbor cells is user-defined by settings on the map properties page.

Markers

Markers are a valuable tool for entering comments while recording that can be used later to identify specific problems or events observed during the drive by the drive-test personnel. Markers can be inserted into a log file while recording by clicking on the pushpin button on the toolbar and entering descriptive text to identify the marker. When replaying the log file, these markers with the text can be viewed on the Map and Strip Chart displays. The marker text can be viewed on the State, and History displays.

In-Building Display Interpolated Data Points

The In-Building tool allows you to take measurements within a building. GPS data points are manually created by clicking on specific points on the In-Building Display representing the current location of the Invex3G measurement equipment. The display has been enhanced for version 4.10.05, to automatically generate Interpolated data points between the manually generated points.

Video Call Type for Nokia N95 Handsets (QA 3143)

The Video call type has been added to Invex3G for the N95 handset. Video calls can now be placed or answered using the Invex3G AutoCaller. To place a video call, select the Video call type and enter the standard AutoCall parameters such as number to dial and call duration. Please see the N95 setup recommendations on page 14 for video call testing.

Invex3G Optimization systems produce ILF log files supported by Actix Analyzer, Xceed WindCatcher, QualiTest Gladiator, and other leading post-processing applications.

AutoCall
Invex3G Optimization systems have full AutoCall functionality allowing you to enter the number to call, call duration, and call wait times for each device. Call statistics and key performance indicators are recorded into the Invex3G log file while making calls or while in idle mode. Uplink and downlink Layer 3 messages are collected in the log file and displayed real-time. AutoCall statistics include successful call starts, origination failures, setup failures, no service failures, Abnormal-ends, and average setup time. Highly accurate EV-DO, WCDMA, CDMA, and GSM digital scanners can be used in conjunction with phone devices or separately to measure network coverage.

Voice Quality Audio Source and Record/MOS
Voice Quality Audio Source and Record features the capability to send and record audio during Invex3G AutoCall operation.  A series of reference audio files are sent and received between phones connected to a mobile Invex3G system and an Invex3G fixed end system. The recorded audio segments are stored with the associated time and location information into the Invex3G ILF log file. Real-time MOS (Mean Opinion Score) scoring is also available using either SQUAD LQ or PESQ (P862.1). Since the drive test audio data is logged in its most basic form as a WAV file, types of audio analysis other than MOS such as frequency shift, clipping. DC offset, and delays deviation may be available (depending on MOS algorithm used). The WAV files can also be directly exported by the Invex3G WAV Converter display for analysis by third-party audio analysis programs.

Invex3G Optimization systems support a large variety of air cards and handsets for HSDPA, HSUPA, EV-DO, 1X, EDGE, WCDMA, iDEN, and GPRS packet data testing. Air cards and handsets can be placed in isolation modules and connected to external antennas to provide optimum testing accuracy. Whether you’re testing uplink and downlink throughput or connect times, Invex3G already has a data task to meet your requirements. Packet data tasks include Connect, FTP Get, FTP Put, HTTP Post, HTTP Get, Mail Get, Mail Put, Ping (ICMP Echo), Raw Upload, and Raw Download.

Invex3G supports SMS testing with a task based user interface that allows you to send and receive SMS messages on a single network or across networks. Messages can be sent and received by the same phone or sent from a phone to one or more phones in numerous user-defined combinations. The primary message content is predefined to allow matching of transmitted messages to received messages as well as providing end-to-end statistics such as delivery time, SMS completion success rate, SMS completion failure rate and SMS access success rate. You can also include additional text in the message as needed.

MMS (Multimedia Messaging Service)
Invex3G supports MMS testing with a task based user interface that allows you to send and receive MMS images and text on a single network or across networks. Images and text can be sent and received by the same phone or sent from a phone to one or more phones in numerous user-defined combinations. The primary content is predefined to allow matching of transmitted text and images to received text and images as well as providing end-to-end statistics such as delivery time. You can also include additional text in the message as needed. All tasks are configured using the MMS tab of the phone's properties page accessed by right clicking on the phone in the device tree.

Invex3G Benchmark systems combine rugged laboratory grade hardware, powerful, intuitive software, handsets and air cards from leading manufacturers including Kyocera, Novatel, Samsung, Motorola, Nokia and Qualcomm, and high-speed digital scanning receivers to create superior drive-test solutions for wireless networks. Benchmark systems have a high device capacity supporting as many as 16 devices in a single chassis. Service providers and measurement service companies generally use two Invex3G Benchmark systems per vehicle, one system for voice quality testing and one system for packet data testing to optimize testing efficiency and minimize costs, however, a single benchmark system is capable of simultaneous voice and data testing.

Invex3G Benchmark systems feature robust packet data testing across GPRS, EDGE, WCDMA, HSDPA, HSUPA, CDMA 1X, EV-DO Rev 0, EV-DO Rev A, and iDEN technologies. Invex3G PC is the perfect solution for a wide variety of multi-technology measurement tasks including Packet Data, InBuilding, and AutoCall testing—Now with HSDPA, HSUPA, and EV-DO Rev A support.

The Invex3G-PC measurement solution provides the power and flexibility of the industry leading Invex3G Measurement System software in a PC only package. The Invex3G-PC system supports phones, air cards, digital scanners, and GPS receivers using the manufacturer’s USB cables and drivers in combination with a Windows XP PC running the Invex3G software. Users of the Invex3G-PC system have access to the full range of Invex3G displays such as data summary, bar charts, state, map, and message windows, as well as technology specific summary and scanner displays. Invex3G-PC produces standard ILF log files compatible with Interpreter™ and any other post processing applications.

Invex3G-PC solutions include one technology, three device connections, one standard and two data scripting capable. Data scripting capable connections will support both voice and data. Additional device connections or technologies may be added as an option. The notebook or tablet PC used to run the Invex3G-PC software is not included.

InBuilding

Invex3G-PC is the perfect solution for a wide variety of measurement tasks including InBuilding testing. The InBuilding display allows you to click on points on a map or a scanned floorplan to identify and record the location of the measurement. Manual GPS points are recorded in the log file each time the display is clicked. Invex3G-PC is used daily around the world to take measurements of wireless networks in train stations, subways, shopping malls, and office buildings where GPS reception is not available and portability is critical. An example of the InBuilding display in an office building is shown below.

Simply load the drivers provided with the air card or handset, insert the air card or phone USB cable into the PC and configure the devices with the Invex3G application. Whether you’re testing uplink and downlink throughput or connect times, Invex3G-PC already has a data task to meet your requirements. Invex3G-PC automatically produces network data files for the Ethereal® Network Protocol Analyzer for viewing and analysis of TCP/IP packet information allowing data sessions to be analyzed and problems identified. A number of colorful displays are available to monitor as the data is collected.
