Each mobile location-enhanced application or service is unique and presents its own requirements for support from a mobile positioning system. At the same time, each of the several wireless location technologies on the market has its own cost, performance, and deployment characteristics. The result is that no single wireless location technique can meet the needs of all location-enhanced applications. Andrew's Geometrix MLC mobile location system bridges the gap between location-enhanced services and the location technologies that enable them by providing the capability to implement any or all wireless locating techniques. Geometrix MLC supports handset-based, network-based, and hybrid locating technologies on a common platform. Operators can utilize the following techniques individually or in combination:

Initial selections may be supplemented at any time. Geometrix MLC gives operators the flexibility to add or refocus their location system as their needs change and as market directions clarify. SMLC, GMLC, SAS, and SUPL:
For GSM/GPRS and UMTS networks, Geometrix MLC offers a flexible Mobile Location Center hardware platform that can base a fully functional serving mobile location center (SMLC), gateway mobile location center (GMLC), standalone SMLC (SAS) node, or SUPL Location Platform (SLP) as well as combinations of these nodes. GMLC, SMLC, SAS, and SUPL Location Platform (SLP) Mobile Location Center nodes may be functionally augmented at any time and can be scaled and upgraded to meet the capacity needs of increasing application(s).
