Manufacturing and Fabrication

Manufactureing and FabricationAndrew towers are fabricated in a factory using fully automated, highly accurate computer numerical controlled (CNC) machines. This ensures product consistency and quality that is time- and cost-effective. Current tower manufacturing capacity is approximately 1300 tons per month (one 50 m Light Medium tower weighs 9 tons).

The steel used in the manufacture of the Andrew towers is of grade 350WA and the bolts are grade 8.8.

All tower members are individually stamped facilitating the tracking of parts for export applications and for easy reference to key assembly diagrams. The stamp on each member is visible after galvanizing and painting. This simplifies the assembly procedures and improves quality control on site.

Tower sections are supplied galvanized as a standard option unless otherwise requested by the customer. The galvanizing process is of very high quality and complies with the South African Bureau of Standards specifications. For applications in extreme environmental conditions, Andrew can apply a duplex corrosion control paint kit where the towers can be painted on site prior to assembly. The paint supplied with Andrew towers meets international aviation standards.

The shape of the tower members allows for easy bundling that minimizes the volume required in containers resulting in cost-efficient exportation.
